We have implemented a quarterly technology and resources conference, during which we evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of our current technology and devise plans for improvement and ways to integrate new technologies and innovations. Our commitment to these aspects of our practice has already proven to facilitate an increased amount of work in a smaller amount of billable time.
In the insurance defense practice area, each attorney generally carries a caseload of 30 to 45 files. Clerical and support services are organized to handle non-attorney tasks to free up attorney time to evaluate cases and attend court and depositions. The client is given the benefit of lower billing rates as support staff is used as often as possible for routine correspondence and to perform related administrative tasks. Both attorneys and support staff ensure conformity with client’s litigation guidelines.
Our most important program for cost savings is the least technologically savvy. That program is simple ethics in billing. All billing timekeepers at Peterson White review his/her time on a daily and weekly basis to make certain that there are no mistakes in billing and that our billing practices have conformed to the letter and the spirit of the Rules of Professional Conduct. Furthermore, we are intimately familiar with our clients’ billing guidelines, and we strictly adhere to them.
